Start a gang, build a crew
You start your own gang from the Gangster app. Right now there are more than 590 gangs in the city. You organize your family into ranks: one Right Hand, four Captains and up to twenty Soldiers. Higher-ranked members add more strength and can also grant permission to operate in the region.

Six regions, six bosses
The city is divided into six regions: Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, Black Sea and East. A boss sits on the throne of each region. The boss sets the protection cut between 5 and 25 percent and grants permission (a visa) to anyone who wants to do business on the street. The boss takes a cut of the loot, and the regional treasury fills up.
Working without permission: off the books
If you work without the boss’s permission, the job counts as off the books: you pay double the protection cut (up to 40 percent), your chance of getting caught goes up, and the boss finds out. If a permission request goes unanswered for 12 hours, it counts as approved.
Territory war
A boss who wants the throne issues a firman (a declaration of war) and pays its cost upfront from the regional treasury. The rival boss has three options: accept, stay silent (silence counts as acceptance) or pay compensation to buy off the war. Strength isn’t decided by one person but by the crowd: those who take sides, the region’s population, the family roster, control of protection money and the ammo loaded from the treasury. The defending side also gets a 15 percent fortress bonus.
There’s a price, too
Fighting comes with costs, bail, the police station and the hospital. If your reputation drops, doors close at the market: you get fewer listings and pay higher commission. Winning on the street is easy; staying clean is hard.
It’s a fictional game. The gang and protection system in Esnaf Simulator exists only inside the game and does not encourage real crime. Threats, insults and requests for real money are prohibited in the game; complaints are filed through the in-game report.
